Animal Electric Fence Alert Alarm System

ELECTIC FENCE ALERT ALARM SYSTEM

Instruction Sheet
The alert alarm system is designed to work in conjunction with an electric fence.  When a short occurs on the electric fence wire, the siren is activated.  This audio stimulation has been proven to deter bears and alerts camp personnel to the presence of a bear at the camp perimeter. Please Note: A three second delay between activating the siren and sensing a short is built into this system to minimize false alarms.

The following items are included with the Alert Alarm System:

·         Alarm control unit,
·         Siren with hook-up wire,
·         Battery hook-up wire with end clips (1 red, 1 black),

Alarm System Instructions

  • Alarm control and battery should be placed in a tent or under cover.  Alarm system must have its own 12-Volt battery.  Do not attempt to connect it to the fence charger's battery!
  • The siren should be outside the tent and placed three to five feet above the ground to project sound.
  • Connect the alarm control to its battery and connect black insulated wire to No. 5 on the control box and to the electric fence hot (+) wire.  Turn on the electric fence charger and then the alarm control.  The alarm may sound briefly.  The green light will flash indicating system is operating.  If the fence hot wire is shorted to the ground or the fence charger turned off, the alarm will sound.
  • Black wire No. 5 must never be grounded to the alarm control box.
  • For battery powered fence chargers, horn/siren will be activated if fencer power supply (battery) falls below 9 volts.
