Parmak Solar Panel Maintenance
Parmak solar fencers are equipped with extremely good solar collectors, however, it is important that you perform regular maintenance to ensure peak performance.

• It is very important that the solar panel is kept clean. Any dust or dirt
  that accumulates on the solar panel will have a significant affect on the efficiency of the solar panel.
• The gel batteries that are supplied with Parmak solar fencers have a life
  expectancy of up to four years when properly maintained (these batteries must be kept charged). A clean solar panel can maintain a battery with only 6 hours of ambient sunlight per day.

Parmak Rechargeable Gel Cell Battery Maintenance

• Regular charging is required to properly maintain Parmak batteries.
• Do not allow batteries to fully discharge, as this will significantly reduce their capacity and life expectancy.
• Batteries that are in constant use tend to last longer and perform better than batteries that experience lengthy periods of inactivity.
• Fully charge battery before storing or when it is anticipated that the unit will not be used for an extended period of time.
• Fully charge battery before using unit after lengthy periods of inactivity.
• There are two methods to properly charge batteries:
  1) Attach battery to Parmak taper charger (item #3005D for 6 volt batteries and #3005E for 12 volt batteries) for 24 hours,
  2) Batteries in fencing units equipped with solar panels, should be placed in direct sun light with the fencing unit turned off for 2 weeks.
• The average life expectancy for Parmak gel cell batteries is 3- 5 years, however, many reach 8– 10 years, the record is 11 years.
